Two Victims Identified in Brown University Incident as Police Continue Manhunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant persisted following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also shared condolences online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.
