Trio Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Award

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been celebrated for their remarkable achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.

These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - while still 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin came in second place in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it motivates more young females to get into cricket."
