The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Track

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple agonizing backstories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song created by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great nostalgic choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
