Mary Earps States Her Autobiography Was Never Intended to Tear Anyone Down

Keeper Mary Earps has publicly stated that her recently published memoir was not created to “tear anyone down” and shared worry that media response has been “misrepresented.”

The ex-Lionesses player, who played a key role in the championship win, faced backlash from followers and Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor after sharing views about ex-colleague Hannah Hampton and coach Sarina Wiegman.

In her autobiography, Earps allegedly stated told Wiegman she was “supporting poor attitude” by recalling Hampton to the England squad after dropping her for being “disruptive and unreliable.”

“The response has been immense to see how certain aspects were twisted,” Earps shared in an interview.

Clarifying Her Purpose

Earps firmly declared that her memoir was never intended to harm individuals.

She stated it was “not a rapid decline” in their relationship—just a clash of viewpoints—and she continues to admire the head coach.

“There were things that happened in the summer that I would have preferred to go another way,” Earps added.

Personal Struggles

In her memoir, Earps discussed openly the bullying she suffered at during her education, describing it as a “really hard” section to revisit because it reawakened past pain.

These emotions led to anxiety episodes, and Earps revealed she had issues with body image and turned to alcohol during the Covid pandemic to manage mental health struggles.

Earps recently shared that she is in a relationship with a woman and stated she is proud about her connection with Kitty.

She also mentioned her desire to be a mother and revealed she has preserved her eggs for future use.

“I really want to be a mother and have a family of my own,” Earps stated. “I enjoy my football career, but I wish to have a child in the future.”

Earps portrayed the fertility process as “overwhelming and personal” and pushed for more studies tailored to athletes undergoing comparable treatments.

During her remarks, Earps emphasized that she has no second thoughts about her professional journey or life decisions, emphasizing that she always behaved honestly.
