Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period of this nature with results so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
