American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Eastern Pacific, Leading to 4 Fatalities

As stated by a senior defense official, the American military executed a lethal strike on a boat in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four people.

“A US joint task force conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a craft operated by a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence verified the vessel was transiting along a known drug smuggling route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. A total of four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no US military forces were harmed.”

Context and Recent Strikes

This announcement follows a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund drug trafficking and other crimes, pledging to increase the military buildup.

Just on the previous day, US defense officials said it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Justifies Tactics Amidst Pressure

The government has faced increasing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have refused to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a successful operation, saying it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the bounds of legal military action.

Although the administration has stated the operation is about halting drugs destined for the US, comments from a senior aide seemed to suggest a wider political objective. In a recent interview, the chief of staff said the leader “aims to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”

This suggests the series of strikes may be part of a strategy to remove Venezuela's current government.
